BILAT-USA @ NanoSafety Cluster meeting
Jun 14, 2012
The EU NanoSafety Cluster is a DG RTD NMP initiative to maximise the synergies between the existing FP6 and FP7 projects addressing all aspects of nanosafety including toxicology, ecotoxicology, exposure assessment, mechanisms of interaction, risk assessment and standardisation.
The European Commission and the US National Nanotechnology Coordination Office (US-NNCO) are working close together to engage researchers, regulators, and granting entities in an active discussion on EHS (Engineering, Health, Science and Environment) research needs as well as dentify research that would benefit from joint efforts. Annual workshops are being organized and Communities of Research are being established. Communities of Research are formed by groups of people, sharing a significant interest in the field of nanosafety and interacting regularly to advance that interest. They develop a shared repertoire of resources: experiences, tools, ways of addressing recurring questions and challenges but do not necessarily work together on a daily basis.
The third annual workshop was held in Grenoble, on 29-31 May 2012. BILAT-USA supported the participation of U.S. researchers and highlighted the objectives, current activities and results of the project.
