What is CLUDs? CLUDs is a research project financed within the 7Framework Program – Marie Curie IRSES, integrated with a higher education agenda. It is finalized to explore a new approaches in delivering and implementing urban regeneration policies, in particular by testing an innovative instrument aimed at enhancing the attractiveness of deprived urban areas by focusing on public- private partnerships and urban- rural linkages. This innovative instrument is suitable to be implemented within the Europe 2020 framework. The project is coordinated by the University Mediterranea of Reggio Calabria and involves the following further partners: University of Salford, Aalto University of Helsinky, University of Rome, Northeastern University of Boston, MA, San Diego State University, CA. It is articulated in three work packages. The first work package, focused on public- private partnerships and developed in Boston, has been recently concluded. What happens on the 12th June in Reggio Calabria? On July the 12th the International partners will present the first work package results in Reggio Calabria, in particular by sharing the success factors of the public- private partnerships acting on urban regeneration initiatives in the metropolitan area of Boston. Local stakeholders, experts and all interested people are invited to discuss the findings. Throughout one week work, partners will not only put the research project forward, but also organize the International doctorate on "Urban Regeneration and Economic Development", also launched on the 12th . Both the International doctorate and the further initiatives empowering the CLUDs project stem from the commitment of the Region of Calabria on empowering local economy and human capital and are financed under the Operational Program European Social Funds 2007-2013 of the Region of Calabria.
